I am very interested in such a group. I have often thought that stories from my personal journal would make a good read with dramatic and funny moments but never dreamed there would be a niche where my Italian- American culture would be so welcomed. With all the negative and one dimensional sterotypes of Italian Americans I am more motivated to put my writings out there. Any suggestions on where to begin?

    • If you’re in NYC, come to the 2nd Saturday readings at the Cornelia St cafe (see newsletter) if not in NYC, you should be reading your work or better still….talk to a local bookstore or pub that would let you have a space for 2 hrs and then put notices in all the local papers.
Also start reading another italian american writers, see the bibliography at http://www.iawa.net. If you don’t buy Italian american books then the publishers have no reasn to publish more italian american writers. Check out the newsletter for italian american magazines…subscribe!!!
And think of joining Linkedin and then the Group – Italian American Writers and showing us some of your writing.
      Good luck!

  2. I am looking for ways to promote my book, “Growing Up Italian; Grandfather’s Fig Tree and Other Stories,” and to promote myself as a presenter…not only of the Italian immigration and stories thereof, but of “Whatever Happened to Sunday Dinner?” the title of my next book( out in the fall) and current power point presentation

  3. Writers, For those who need help promoting their book(s), may I please suggest http://www.GoodReads.com. This is a wonderful internet bookclub that includes readers, writers, and followers of all types of publications. As a newly published author, I have recently created an account for myself. Also, a variety of free tools are available through Google to create a free website or your own blog. http://www.google.com/intl/en/about/products/index.html There are also many Italian-American organizations who hold events throughout the year. Get on their e-mail mailing list to find out about events and learn if you are able to participate for free or at a low cost to promote your book. Hope this is helpful. 4. Ted di Stefano’s new book on Amazon.com: “Mother’s Guide to Daily Living.” It talks about the Italian-American values that I learned from my mother while growing up. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005WUEIF6/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmb

  5. HELLO! I tried to send an eMail but it did not let me finish. Tante Saluti!
I’m funded by Poets &Writers through a grant from the James Irvine Foundation to read anywhere I can find a venue, and since I fly FREE (airline dependent) my bags are packed. Working on my 7th volume of poetry to pop in 2012. Might you be interested in adding me to your calendar in 2012? I’d appreciate it very much since most of my writing draws from my First Generation Italo-American experiences? I’ll be 88 in April, hoping to live to be 100!
    Tanti Auguri,
